What the CDC Guidelines Mean for Your Household

Millions of Americans have begun to flock to their old pre-pandemic haunts since the curtains have been lifted. Some are still a little wary of a return to normal life, so they are not getting out much more than during quarantine, even though that is exactly what the guidelines allow.

So, how should we behave within this "new" environment? That really depends on the vaccination status of your family.

Who Gets the All-Clear?

You pretty much get an all-clear for getting back to real outdoor picnics, crowded children's parties, and church social events. In other words, if the entire family has cleared the hurdle of getting both Pfizer or both Moderna vaccines, or the one Johnson & Johnson jab, you may resume your pre-pandemic pleasures.

When considering additions to your attire, you should consider what you would want someone to wear if they were vaccinated, but your immunocompromised system was still susceptible to COVID. Imagine they have flu-like symptoms, though fully vaccinated, and they are maskless. Any questions?

Who is Clear but Should be Cautious?

Those families who have been mostly vaccinated are clear to move about, but it's best to be cautious when in close conversation with others, whether indoors or outdoors. You should also be careful with those in your home who have not been vaccinated.

What About Kiddos Under 12?

We must take care to understand the circumstances for those who are not even eligible to take the vaccine yet...children under the age of 12. Although they are generally not frequenting places where the virus is commonly spread, it is a good idea to be careful around family members who have not been vaccinated.

Those Who Have Not Been Vaccinated

Of the approximately 40% of American adults who have not been vaccinated, most are shunning the vaccine by choice. Still, there are others who have legitimate and serious medical conditions that prevent them from receiving the shot. In this case, officials are urging people to educated themselves based on their own specific health conditions.

We can never truly predict when this will all be over. Maybe it never will. Whatever the case, there is the question of trust among those populations who are choosing to remain unvaccinated. Their skepticism is dictating their choices, but fear is more likely a greater factor. When you do not trust something or someone, you usually don't accept the things they try to convince you are good for you.
